How we calculate
Where prices come from
We use official issuer pricing pages, stores, support articles and published renewal terms. Each price row records the service, tier, billing term, region, currency, verification date and source link. PS Plus, Game Pass and their comparison cover the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia in local currencies. Other calculators currently use US prices in USD.
A verification date records when we checked that source. It is not a guarantee that the price will stay unchanged. Promotional and account-specific checkout prices can differ.
Price reviews and history
Our intended review schedule is monthly, with additional checks when we learn of a change. Check each page’s verification date for the latest completed check. We publish price-history entries only when we have evidence of the previous price, new price and change date; an empty history does not mean the price has never changed.
How calculators compare costs
Calculators use different comparisons depending on the subscription:
- Console and game-library comparisons add the cost of games you would buy outside the selected tier. Count only games available on your devices and in that tier’s library.
- Where implemented, longer billing terms are converted to yearly equivalents to compare recurring costs. Those equivalents do not change the amount charged upfront. Some tools compare monthly billing specifically: FFXIV uses 30-day periods, and Game Pass uses monthly prices.
- Realms compares the total over the number of months entered. Twitch and Fortnite compare monthly costs. GeForce NOW compares a chosen number of years and estimates cost per hour.
- Household and sharing tools divide costs by the people entered, subject to the plan assumptions described on the service page.
- Optional features, game purchases, expansion costs and other values you enter are estimates for your scenario. Pre-filled examples are not live quotes.
Rankings compare the options included in that calculator. They do not search every retailer, test your hardware or connection, or verify a game’s current catalog availability. Equal-cost options may appear in their original order.
Important assumptions
Game libraries change. Subscription access generally does not give you ownership of a game. A cost comparison also cannot measure how much you personally value a particular game, convenience or included extras.
Fortnite requires your store’s V-Bucks price and the passes you would actually buy. FFXIV labels its billing periods as 30 days. WoW Token gold values and gold earned per hour come from your inputs, not a live market feed. GeForce NOW’s comparison does not price extra hours above its included playtime.
What the estimates exclude
Unless the calculator explicitly asks for them, estimates exclude taxes, regional promotions, one-off discounts, currency conversion, financing, hardware running costs and future price changes. Check the issuer’s checkout total, renewal terms and eligibility before subscribing.
