How the comparison works
This comparison assumes you can use both console ecosystems; it does not include hardware costs or PC-only Game Pass. If online multiplayer is off, buying without a subscription is also considered.
The calculator adds each tier’s yearly price to the cost of games that tier doesn’t cover. Essential tiers pay for every catalog game you’d play. Library tiers cover those but not launch purchases, unless the tier includes the selected day-one releases. Count only games available on your devices. New Call of Duty titles are excluded from the day-one input.
PlayStation’s 12-month plans make PS Plus cheaper for steady members. Xbox bills monthly, so Game Pass costs more per year but you can drop it in quiet months.
